My name’s Jaison — an Aussie veteran and the founder of FAR.
After serving six years in the military, I was medically discharged and, for the first time in a long while, I didn’t know who I was or what came next. I’d gone from structure, purpose, and routine to an empty calendar and a head full of noise. Losing that sense of direction was tough... It wasn’t just leaving a job, it was leaving an identity.
Fishing had always been my escape, a way to switch off, breathe, and reset. So I started spending more time on the water, chasing the peace that only a sunrise cast can give you. That’s where the idea for FAR began.. Not in a boardroom, but on the water, rod in hand, trying to figure life out.
I started hand-carving sketching and 3D modeling lures, not for profit, but for therapy. I wanted to build something real, something that connected me back to purpose. Each lure was a small victory, a reminder that I could still create, still build, still care about the details.
Over time, what began as a way to heal slowly grew into a brand... A community of like-minded fishos who appreciate craftsmanship, authenticity, and sustainability. That’s how FAR was born.. From uncertainty, grit, and a deep love for the water.
Today, FAR stands for more than just handcrafted timber lures. It represents resilience, mateship, and responsibility to our veterans, to our customers, and to the marine environments we love.
We’re proud to be Australian veteran-owned and operated, working alongside skilled Indonesian artisans who handcraft our timber lures using sustainably sourced mahogany.
To give back to Aussie veterans and protect our waterways for the next generation of fishos.
So when you fish with FAR, you’re not just casting a lure—you’re part of a story about rebuilding, giving back, and doing things the right way.
Every lure is shaped, sealed, balanced, and tested with intention. We use dense timber and tuned weighting for true tracking and lifelike roll, then finish with a tough, multi-layer epoxy. The result is a lure that swims right out of the box and keeps swimming.
We believe great fishing relies on healthy waterways. That’s why we:
Favour durable, repairable products over throwaway gear
Advocate for responsible fishing and habitat protection
